I haven’t posted in a while, but I have been writing.
I’ve been learning the art of screenwriting and putting forth the first feeble attempts at producing something recognizable.
After two screenwriting classes with Gotham Writer’s Workshop and three months of workshop with Max Adam’s Academy of Film Writing, and… I can’t wait – Max’s Visual Writing class starting next week, I’m ready to start posting a little of what I’ve absorbed. (Max is arguably one the best teachers I’ve ever had, and that’s saying a lot from a gal that has an extensive career in educating herself (career is only a slight exaggeration of my years of continuous classes).)
I’m currently working on a screenplay with the following logline:
Upon arrival at their Idaho homestead in the raw pioneer world of 1890, a Ft Worth debutante and her wealthy groom are kidnapped and held for ransom by notorious bank robbers.
Will Madeleine escape; will she want to?

Having said that… I can’t seem to settle on a title. Ugh.

I am glad that you have a new project to work on. I am sure it will be exciting. I hope you have good work writing it. I am afraid I can’t help you with the title. I am afraid that is my weakest point when it comes to writing.

Not sure about the title. I like Honor of Snake River best but think there must be something even better out there. Good luck with the screen play!
We spent a week in the Grand Tetons a few years ago, stayed somewhere near Jackson, paddled down the Snake River in our canoe. The mountains remind me of the Alps – minus the bison on the river bank and the bear which circled our camp.
What happened to Quiet Lost?

Quiet Lost will get its due. I wrote a logline for it (under the pic) and am considering writing it as a screenplay. Then I can come back and write as the novella I started. My mind visualizes like a screenplay, so it attracts me more than other forms of writing and is easier for me.
The Tetons are so amazing; bears, bison and all.
The setting is Idaho. There seems to be a contrast between escaping and the possible steamy exhilaration of being held up. Try the title, “Hot Potato”? Glad to see tangible creativity. Save me a ticket.
When in doubt, doodle.

Debi, I am so envious of your ability to continue to stretch your talent and take so many writing classes! And glad to see you posting once again! The screenplay sounds like a stimulating project. I would love to learn how to write one. I’ve always longed to write a novel, but the reality is that many more people watch movies then read. So… screenplays are obviously more where it’s at. Someday…
As far as the title goes, I voted for Teton Reckoning, but I’m not sure it’s quite right. Can’t you wait till you have more written before you choose a title? Maybe just use a “working title?” Something really dynamic might pop up in the course of writing.
