I love these words:
“We’re pleased to inform you that due to the quality of work evident in your script, we have selected you as a Top 50 Writer for this year’s ISA Fast Track Fellowship! Congratulations!”
Final Fellowship announcement will take place April 26th. Fingers crossed!
Stowe Story Labs and Max Adams of the Academy of Film Writing — thank you once again. I owe everything to y’all.
My son said this about Enduro Trail Riding in the East Texas Piney Woods:
“Sometimes I get into flow, but sometimes the trees get too tight or the terrain is unpredictable, and if I keep riding at my normal pace I fuck up a lot because it gets trickier and ups the difficulty. But I can get impatient when my pace drops off, so I try to push it, but then I’m thinking, ‘Oh great, I’m gonna hit this tree and die.'” – Russell Yazbeck
What an all encompassing statement of life. It applies to writing and to anything where we dream our dreams and push to be better and the best we can be.

Yay! THOSE BENEATH “Immaculate Conception” is advancing in the 2017 BlueCat Screenplay Competition. Finalists will be announced Sunday.

My new futuristic drama TV pilot THOSE BENEATH “Immaculate Conception” has its first contest placement as a quarter-finalist in the 2017 BlueCat Screenplay Competition. Fingers crossed for advancement!
What an incredible cast and crew! We filmed the second half of my short drama, Saltwater, yesterday on location in Frisco, Texas.
And then we had one of the actors, Larry Lobster, for dinner.
The other actors, Rebecca Moore and Jesse Grider, were spared the boiling water. They’re needed for the next and final day of filming.
Matthew DeLeon directed the cast and crew with a quiet finesse that I predict will make him a big name someday. Thank you, Matthew.
Also…
My feature, Blind Pursuit, came in as a finalist in the 2016 Screenplay Festival under the Movie Script – Thriller/Horror category!

And good riddance. It seems everyone I talk to is glad to see it go, including me.
I believe 2017 will be a better year. Isn’t that so human? Hope abounds.
So… in looking forward to a new and better year and bidding adieu to this very long past year —
My feature thriller BLIND PURSUIT placed as a FINALIST in the 10th Annual StoryPros International Screenwriting Contest!
Happy New Year!
I requested to have all three of my scripts listed on my attendance badge (we’ll see):
TETON RECKONING, BLIND PURSUIT and FERAL are all Second Rounders at the Austin Film Festival!
