SUNFLOWER CARE TV Pilot promo shoot came alive with the help of our wonderful cast and crew. It was more fun than I could have imagined.
There is nothing that Christina Collard can’t make funny.
But besides that, she makes everyone comfortable. She has more energy than a child.
And she’s kind. I’m so grateful to have her on set.
Hugs to you, Christina!

About time.
Diana Richardson and I are prepping for the social media blitz showcasing SUNFLOWER CARE, a half-hour TV pilot written by Della Greenawalt. This witty comedy will be directed by Debi Yazbeck and produced by Diana Richardson, partners at Cheat Death Productions.

I have a streak of perfectionism, but it’s directed at myself only.
I don’t request perfectionism from anyone around me. I only have power over myself. Everyone else has to do what they have to do.
(Which often leads to me doing more than I maybe should, ya think?)
BUT… having an entertainment partner who demands perfection is… PERFECT for me.
Diana Richardson, producer extraordinaire, is my partner in crime or comedy or drama. Whatever the day demands. She is a little bulldog (and I love bulldogs!!!!!) in her determination to get things right… always right!
I LOVE THAT about her!
Thank you, Diana, for who you are and all you do. I don’t think I can ever adequately express how much you mean to me.

As I embark on this journey (more exciting than anything I’ve done previously) I’m gobbling up knowledge as quickly as my brain can absorb.
I produced and directed my first short PRELUDE TO MURDER IN SOUTHEAST AUSTIN earlier this year under the tutelage of Sundance’s Collab program. The award winning directors, Julia Solomonoff and Danielle Lessovitz taught the lab — wow! I will direct my next short in September.
I can’t read books on the art of directing fast enough. I can’t view enough online classes and seminars.
But no matter what, I’ve recognized a truth that is absolute no matter where I turn…
Every really good director I’ve communicated with has these things in common: humility, honesty, a love for actors and a willingness to help those of us who want to learn and grow.
I’m humbled by their attitude and hope I’m there some day.

This is just what I needed!
In eight weeks I went from complete ignorance to producing, writing and directing my own short film PRELUDE TO MURDER IN SOUTHEAST AUSTIN while being mentored by Julia Solomonoff and Danielle Lessovitz.
Thank you so much to my incredible cast of actors, Perri Reavis and Lon Lawson. And to my DP and editor, Benjamin Ward. Directing is truly a collaborative adventure that unites everyone on set.
And add to all of that… This course has set me on the correct path for directing Della Greenawalt’s award winning script SUNFLOWER CARE in May.
Thank you, SUNDANCE Collab!
