Such a fun evening.Debi CWFF2

And a great honor to receive Best Feature Screenplay at the 2016 California Women’s Film Festival.

None of this would have happened without Max Adams and the Academy of Film Writing. Max rocks as a teacher and a mentor!

And I had my own fan club there!

Ken Harter, my always supportive husband, Aaron Harter – his son and Catie Blalock – Aaron’s girlfriend. And fellow screenwriter, Mike Cregan.

TETON RECKONING and FERAL official selections of Austin Revolution Film Festival

ARFF-Laurelsbalck

I’m super excited to be include in the Austin Revolution Film Festival. And especially with two screenplays:

Teton

The year is 1890…

Determined to head West, a Fort Worth orphan connives to wed an Idaho land baron. Her scheming leaves her fighting for her life against her avenging husband, bribed Pinkertons and a tenacious band of kidnappers — all while battling to survive the treacherous Tetons.

Feral1

Feral is a short drama about a persistent canine and the unforeseen and deadly consequences that follow him into the lives and pregnancy plans of a young couple.

Lilyhammer “Bring Jerry Home” WINS HONORABLE MENTION!

It’s not the Grand Prize Winner but it’s the closest thing to.

 SPF Cert

Lilyhammer “Bring Jerry Home” is a crime-drama/dark-comedy spec teleplay about a high ranking Mafioso who testifies against his Mafia Boss and enters the US witness protection program requesting a new life in Lillehammer, Norway where he resumes his Mafia ways under a new identity (a fish out of water) with great success until the avenging Boss discovers his whereabouts.

Even better than the certificate — they praised my work, “We could not be prouder to have your work be an example of the screenplays that our competition is able to discover. … You truly have a gift.”

Wow, just wow.

These guys are great! — SCREENPLAY FESTIVAL 2015 Movie & TV Winners. (I’m in the “Television –  One Hour Spec” section.)

Lilyhammer is Netflix’s very first production and one of my all-time favorite shows. (If you like The Sopranos and/or Fargo — TV or movie, you should check it out.)

According to Rolling Stone Netflix and Lilyhammer changed the world of TV.

I wholeheartedly agree.
